THINGS TO DO IN DUBLIN

If you're coming from overseas and making a trip of it, here are a few of our favourites.

Guinness Storehouse

A proper Dublin essential, and non-negotiable if you're visiting from overseas. My brother Eoghan performs there at weekends with some of the best musicians in Ireland, in my totally unbiased opinion! Try to get tickets to catch live music while you're there, and you get a free pint with your ticket too. Win win.

Kilmainham Gaol

A powerful, moving piece of Irish history, right around the corner from Vicar Street. Book ahead, tours sell out fast. Aoife and Cousins sang Grace from there.

Art Galleries

Andy's Picks :

The National Gallery of Ireland and The Hugh Lane are both brilliant, and both free in.

Live Traditional Music

The Cobblestone, Smithfield. The Pipers Corner, Dublin 1.

Donoghues on Baggot Street can be handy if you are staying close by. But worth heading northside for some good music.

Comedy Festival

Iveagh Gardens 23rd-26th July

The Iveagh Gardens is a garden smack bang in the middle of Dublin, but it’s hidden away behind the National Concert Hall, so it’s got that cool, “oh you’ve never been to the Iveagh Gardens?” thing going on. The entrance is just off Harcourt Street. It starts on the 23rd so if you're at a lose end it's a great shout for that weekend!

Gigs that week

Not much on in Dublin that week!

The Wolfe Tones is on at the 3arena on Friday 23rd - one of their last gigs we think. If ye fancy it! ;)
